Nu is a cosmetics brand made specifically for women of color. I created the concept, packaging design, and product line for the brand. This concept was created to combat the lack of diversity in the beauty industry. Many current brands lack shades for darker skin tones, heavily market skin lightening products, rarely feature black models, and “hop on the bandwagon (only include more diverse products after seeing other brands profit from such).” I decided to design a product line that is more inclusive and affordable to women of color to combat the lack of options available for them. The challenges of this project was to create a name and brand that stems from women of color and their origins, while promoting and celebrating the uniqueness of women of color and allowing them to be comfortable in their own skin.
