For this project, I created an infographic focusing on the Great Pacific Garbage Patch. This project was created to inform viewers of the severity of the Great Pacific Garbage Patch, a dense span of plastic waste polluting the Pacific Ocean. Plastic waste outnumbers fish 6 to 1, which contributed to the overall idea and title of the infographic. It is an exponentially increasing environmental issue that is unknown to many. The goal is to inform the viewers and readers of the issue and provide visuals that make it easier for readers to understand the situation. The infographic is laid out as if diving deeper and deeper into the ocean. Each section is divided by a marker on the right marking the “depth,” mirroring the depth of the ocean and the depth of the subject matter. It is split into 9 parts; each part begins with a title in the form of a question, which is answered by the text in the body copy providing an explanation to the content.
